Caregiver Petition
We, the undersigned, believe Caregivers in America should have a program in place to be taken care of. Family Caregivers provide the same quality of care for their loved ones as any institution can provide if not better. Oftentimes, Caregivers must choose between their disabled or chronically ill family members and a job or career, leaving the entire family in financial need… and sometimes below poverty levels (needing government aid, such as food stamps). The government pays institutions to provide for the disabled and chronically ill, but provides no assistance to Caregivers. The disabled and chronically ill are taken from their families and, in many cases, their conditions are shown to deteriorate in these environments. In order for families to be able to take care of their loved ones, assistance is needed. We assert that Caregivers should be given the same respect and assistance as institutions. We support a bill to be drafted to provide assistance to Caregivers to allow them to provide a loving environment and the best care possible for their disabled loved ones inside their home, in conjunction with the help of medical professionals. This will allow them to nurture their loved ones in an effort to help them to function in society, contribute their gifts and talents to society, and maintain their own self worth… bringing them to their fullest expectancy of created purpose, and helping Caregivers to maintain less disabilities themselves!
